Any events or festivals that will go on will be posted here with all the details!
They will also be on the side bar to let you know when they are coming up so you can get ready for them.

O B O N
Quote:
Obon is an annual Buddhist event for commemorating one's ancestors. It is believed that each year during obon, the ancestors' spirits return to this world in order to visit their relatives.
Traditionally, lanterns are hung in front of houses to guide the ancestors' spirits, obon dances (bon odori) are performed, graves are visited and food offerings are made at house altars and temples.

At the end of Obon, floating lanterns are put into rivers, lakes and seas in order to guide the spirits back into their world. The customs followed vary strongly from region to region.

The Fairgrounds will be opened throughout this time, and since this is being posted a little bit late in the first day, I might keep them open a little longer. Come join everyone in the festivals at the fairgrounds! Put up Lanterns in your home! Do whatever you wish. Just because we are in War, doesn't mean we can't have festivals! On the last day we will gather at one of the lakes or the ocean (I have yet to decide which one) to put the floating lanterns into.

ps. festivals will be more regular now. sorry for star festival, 4th of july, and ocean day not having anything.

Hello everyone one! Today is Respect For the Aged Day in Japan! There isn't going to be a major festival for this, but just you wait for everything else coming up soon. I hope you all have a lovely day and tell the Aged how much you Respect them. Theres a reason they're still around!

Today was Culture Day in Japan.
Quote:
Culture Day was first held in 1948, to commemorate the announcement of the post-war Japanese constitution on November 3, 1946.

November 3 was first celebrated as a national holiday in 1868, when it was called Tenchō-setsu, a holiday held in honor of the birthday of the reigning emperor—at that time, the Meiji Emperor. With the death of the Meiji Emperor in 1912, November 3 ceased to be a holiday until 1927, when his birthday was given its own specific holiday, known as Meiji-setsu. As Meiji-setsu was discontinued with the announcement of Culture Day in 1948, some see Culture Day as a continuation of this tradition as well—a mere renaming of Meiji-setsu—although they are ostensibly unrelated.

As Culture Day exists to promote the arts and various fields of academic endeavor, local and prefectural governments typically choose this day to hold art exhibits, culture festivals, and parades. For example, Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture holds the annual Feudal Lord's Parade to exhibit Edo Period clothing and costumes. It is common for universities to present new research and projects on Culture Day. Primary and secondary schools often have a "culture festival" on or near this day.

Since not much has been happening on the site lately and I'm very sorry that I'm just now getting this up, I'm going to put up the Fair Grounds for a whole week. It will be a week long festival and if I ever get the time I will put up certain events for us to hold during this week.
